Immersion Tank and Sound of Running Water

Post by Ronnie125 » Sun Aug 18, 2013 2:35 pm

Hi I have a boiler down stairs and an immersion tank upstairs in the airing cupboard and I'm constantly hearing like a gushing of water running backwards and forwards which sounds like its coming from my ceiling ! Can anyone please tell me why this is as it is driving me mad especially when I'm trying to sleep ..thanks

Do you heat the hot water using an immersion heater on an economy seven tariff? Is your hot water from the tap extremely hot in the morning?

If so, get the immersion thermostat checked out. It may not be cutting off at the correct temperature and the water is boiling.

Incidentally, check how hot the water is in the tank in the loft. It should be cold or at most room temperature.
