Indesit WD 12 Won't fill

Indesit WD12 washer/dryer

When programme selected and start button pressed it doesn't fill with water. After 5 secs the programme dial just starts spinning endlessly.

There are no error code flashes, the red light stays on permanently.

There is a water supply to both hoses. The door lock works ok. I have checked the motor brushes and there is about 3/4 inch of carbon left on them. I had a look at the PCB, it is bone dry with no signs of burns or damage(I know it could still be faulty and very expensive !).

I am wandering if it is the inlet valve/solenoid that is malfunctioning. Is there any way of confirming this before I start purchasing spare parts.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
