installation of semi inset bathroom basin into work top.

by news » Sun Oct 19, 2008 1:46 pm

How do I install a semi inset basin into a work top, when the template/instructions do not allow for the overhang of the work top over the base unit. The overhang is 10-12 mm and to have the top flush with the base unit would not be practical and would look unsightly.

Generally the worktop should not overhang the base units to any degree. Usually, I trim the w/top down to size. If the front edge is a half round, the top will look odd if cut back so the only alternative is to cut out using the template, then offer the basin up, and carefully mark the basin edge on the worktop. Accurately cut to these marks so as to allow the basin to recess into the top by the amount of overhang.

Not easy but can be done.
