Installation price

by Clockwork_TV » Fri Nov 04, 2011 11:18 am

Hi All
I want a new window cut out of the wall and pvc double glazing installed - size 1600w x 1400h. I appreciate cutting out the bricks and putting in a lintel is a bit of a job but I'm guessing it's about a days work? Also making the plaster good inside. I've had a quote of £1700 +VAT which is getting to £2000. Is this a fair price? - seems pretty steep to me - about £1000 for a days work? (Considering I had all my windows replaced at my old house for around £4000 though some years back)
Any comments?

Clockwork_TV,
For the window, lintol, cavity closers, cill, and hire of props, skip and cutter you are probably looking at around £900+VAT. I doubt that cutting the hole fitting the lintol and window and making good could be completed in 1 day by 2 men.
If the cost worries you get another quote but don't forget not all windows are equal.
end
