    Insulating the BATH

    Postby prbaxter » Fri Jan 04, 2008 3:24 pm

    Hello,

I'm fitting a new bathroom shortly and I was wondering what everyone thought to this idea.

Baically, to keep the bath water warmer for longer, I was thinking about cladding the underside of the bath with loft insulation - all the way round the bottom (the bath will be pannelled over so you can't see it).

Are there any H&S issues that need to be considered or is this just a good idea?

i dont see this making much difference
you will have take in to consideration air temp.volume of water
acrylic or steel bath so on and so on
on the other hand you have nothing to loose and it wont cost much

I spent quite a few years in Germany involved in renovating army married quarters. German bathtubs are usually supplied with a pre-formed polystyrene base onto which the bathtub is lowered. Since we moved back to UK I have been on the lookout for a German bath for our house but have not seen one in this country yet. A bit of intensive investigation on the internet ought to do the trick when I get round to it
