Just some hot water would be nice !! Damn shower ....

by stuartly keen » Tue Jun 22, 2010 7:49 pm

Not sure if anyone can help.
Quite recently I stopped getting hot water from my taps. oddly though the shower seemed to get hotter (which was nice).
I have a combi boiler and a thermostatic shower mixer. Checked the boiler which is fine so to the shower.Thermostat fine and upon looking at the cartridge also looks fine. Any ideas because it is now beccomming a pain. Am in a hard water area so maybe I should be looking closer for limescale within the mixer ???????
Please help i haven't had a bath in months !!!!!!!!!
Cheers

Not sure how the boiler can be fine if you are not getting hot water from the taps??? When you turn the hot tap on, the boiler senses the flow and fires up. The shower might work because the higher flow rate may be sufficient to trigger the boiler.

The shower fluctuation is a bit of a mystery I am afraid, but it may be the cold filter is partially clogged stopping the thermostat from balancing properly.[/quote]

What taps ? all of them.

Boiler is fine ? if all the taps are affected then the boiler isn't fine, the boiler has a fault.
