Kitchen Island

by chipclub » Wed Sep 24, 2008 8:45 am

I am making a kitchen island out of 3 * 500mm base units and a slab of granite on top. My question is should these units be fixed to the floor and if so, how? One kitchen supplier said they never fix islands to the floor and another said they do to stop them moving.

The weight of the granite will keep the units in position. make sure you have five legs on each cupboard to tke the weight and dont overhang the worktop at the back of the cupboards more tha 300mm, this could over balance them and tip.
