kitchen plinth / skirting

Post by lyndad » Wed Oct 01, 2008 7:05 pm

Silly question - looking for some ideas.

we have a very uneven kitchen floor, and currently no plinth around the base of our kitchen cabinets.

all standard plinths / conti board etc. are minimum 15cm depth - the gap between the floor and our cabinets ranges from 13cm to 17cm.

so the question is - is there other materials we could use? or, if i use conti board, could i use a band saw to cut along the horizontal length of the board? or should i use a jigsaw?

seems like there should be an easier solution...

you can use a jigsaw but make sure you use the right blade, ie one that cuts on the DOWNWARD stroke and cut face-up. that way you will minimise the chipping to the conti board. most of the chipping will be on the rear side where it won't be seen.
