We have a new staircase that we have applied a knotting solution before and now the time has come to stain it. However after applying the stain there is a clear difference in colour as the knots are much lighter than the rest. Is there any way to remove the knotting solution? I tried light sanding but did not work that well. Will a paint remover do the trick? I also tried white spirit but this also did not work.
