Landing Light Changed and now only Downstairs Switch Works?

by Awboo » Thu Nov 10, 2016 3:02 pm

Please help as I'm about ready to blow.

Nutshell is I've removed the light at the top of my stairs and moved over 2 feet or so then put the light back on. Only work needed was 1 junction box to extend 1 of the wires.

Now only the downstairs single switch works and the upstairs 2 way switch doesn't work? Well the half to the bathroom works fine but the half to the landing light does not.

Gone through every diagram I can and changed the wires to every permientation of them, still not working???

So all you have done is relocate on ceiling light, that required one cable only extending??? Nothing else???

You have obviously done something wrong!
Have checked that all conductors are terminated tightly and also you have not trapped insulation in the terminals?

If section of your lighting do not work, after alteration to a light on the circuit, this usually boils down to either the live loop conductor or neutral loop conductor being loose/disconnected or possibly both of them.
