Leaking escape valve - hot water tank

by Jane Hoskyns » Sat Jun 12, 2010 11:01 am

The escape valve on my hot water tank is continually running. The tank is a "Tropical" 200 litre hot water tank, heated by electricity. As the water is literally running away (cold water not the hot) I would like to know how to stop this apparent leak.

What escape valve ?

If it's leaking where is the water going ?

do you mean a ball valve ? so is the water going down the overflow.

If the water is going down the overflow to outside - you can adjust ball valve - if not just renew it.

Look for an isolation valve on cold feed to tank

Sadly it is a french hot water tank. The water is going out through the overflow, situated at the bottom of the tank.
