lec trd984 fridge freezer,food freezing in fridge!

Hope someone can help,my daughter has the above fridge freezer model ,its quite old I believe,she has just moved into her first place and was given it.The problem she has is that food placed in the fridge section is freezing and of course spoiling.She has turned the temp dial to minimum and the problem continues.Could it be a simple repair that costs a few pounds or has it possibly come to the end of its life,money is a bit tight so would like advice on whether its worth a repair or whether a new one is only option.
