Levelling over floor channels

Post by perfumer » Fri Aug 10, 2007 6:04 am

Hi

I need to level a floor ready for carpets. It is screeded but has channels in the floor where central heating and water pipes etc have been laid. The channels are covered with 9mm ply that has been screwed down onto battens in the channel. The problem is that the battens have shrunk in some places leaving the ply slightly lower than the screen. The screed at the edges of the channel have also crumbled in places.

I want to level over the channel and the edge of the screed and was going to use a self levelling cement (I am not concerned about access to the channel), but will this work on ply?

No it will crumble you will need to use feather edge, or micro coat which can be bought from most flooring retailers
