    Lighting fault

    Postby kadzroyal » Tue Nov 13, 2007 9:32 pm

I've got 5 upstairs lights, the first 2 on the radial circuit work ok, the other 3 don't. I've replaced the switch and ceiling rose on the 3rd light. I've got 240v coming into the loop and down to switch and back to live feed for the light, and i've got 240v going into the light itself, but the light won't light up?

    any ideas?

    Hi
Have you got a good Neutral connection also? can't tell with one of those neon test screwdriver things [BAN-EM].
Fault may be at previous fittings out going N connection also don't forget, as it will still be working OK! B.W.

I have a very similar problem, whilst putting a replacement bulb into a ceiling light the whole circuit tripped, reset the trip switch and subsequently no replacement bulbs work.

I've stripped back the ceiling rose and everything looks fine with the wiring, put a multimeter over the live/neutral points where the pendant is wired in and this shows nothing with the switch off (as expected) and ~240V with the switch on so figured all is ok - same readings from the two pins on the actual light fitting.

All the other lights downstairs are working fine, but I'm not sure if this is the last one in the loop or not.

Probably missing something really obvious but thought I'd ask before calling out a pro!

    cheers for any assistance,
    /jc
