loft conversion ammendments

by jamie blunden » Wed Jun 17, 2009 9:24 pm

i am renovating a flat i own that has an old loft conversion. i have pulled down the ceiling and all walls and can see that i can make the ceiling higher by at least a meter, and the walls can be made wider as well. this obviouslt affects the roof structure and strength. Do i need to inform building control or is it ok to proceed if i strengthen the structure but at different points to the existing one

jamie blunden,
If you are making changes to the structure you should involve your local BA. It is very likely that they will insist on structural calculations.
