Loft hatch enlargement

Post by Andy2009 » Sat Mar 28, 2009 2:22 am

Hi
My loft ladder has been placed dangerously and i need to move it.In order to do this i need to remove the middle one of the purlin support triangles for want of better words. Can anyone tell me of another way to support the purlin in the middle, i am leaving the other two well alone.Someone suggested placing vertical wooden beams up the either the rafters or the purlin itself at the same place i remove the support from.If this is right what size wood should i use.
Any help would be great.

Andy2009,
It is difficult to envisage your proposal from the description.
Get a surveyor in to give you advice.
