making a live wire safe

Post by wolfie » Fri Apr 03, 2009 11:26 am

I have an old electric heater in the bathroom which i want to remove, I have found the wire in the loft which runs along the joists and back through the floor into the wall of the landing.

My question is this, can i cut the wire in the loft and add a 30amp juction box to it and the safely remove the wire to the heater? or is there a safer way to cap off the live wire?

Many thanks

Sounds a reasonable way to do it, as long as circuit is isolated prior to do this that is!
I'd also suggest that junctoin box is fixed somewhere secure so it would not become damaged or have any mechancail stress subjected to it, so to reduce risk of cable being pulled out of terminals.
