? Marble fireplace.

Hi I was wondering if anyone could answer a question i'm having serious problems getting answered! I have what i think is a marble fireplace which seems to have been coated in clear what look like varnish?? I would like to know how to get this off without damaging the marble and what best to polish it with afterwards. Any suggestions gratefully recevied. Thanks Greta :D

See our project on paint stripping. The Home Strip in there is fantastic stuff and does not harm the surface it is applied to.
