mortice handles/latches
I have just fitted new mortice handles to my upstairs old doors. 2 of them, although will close do not catch very tightly and can be pushed open. What is the problem? The handles themselves work well. i think it is a problem with the face plates but what? :(
hi,pack the faceplate away from the frame slightly or have a look at putting a thin packer between the hinges and the frame. This will send the latch closer to the faceplate but the door may need planing in places.
