Need Help Wiring Outside Light into Internal 2 way Light Switch

by humantrafik » Wed Nov 15, 2017 11:40 am

Hello,

Would be grateful if someone could assist with this outside light dilemma I have. Can do basic electrics but not sure about this one.

So I have an outside light with live and neutral. Drilled a hole through the wall into the existing kitchen 2 way switch. The kitchen has 2 separate light switches for the same light. The other light switch is 1 way and the one I need to use for outside light is 2 way.

I have a attached a badly drawn diagram which I hope will help someone tell me what I need to do? or if I need to buy anything?

Thanks in advance.

Your switches have no neutral (They have no need for one) so that means you can not connect your new light to the existing cables and expect it to work.

You will have take a supply from a working light or ceiling rose or spur from a socket with a switched fused socket outlet, then wire the light to this.
