Needing Help With Cuboidal Frame for Heavy Bag

by aj3237 » Wed Feb 07, 2018 12:55 pm

Hi all

After significant searching here and google I have come up blank so turning to you all for some advice.

I am attempting to build a cuboidal frame that will have a central beam sufficient to support 150kg from its centre. I dont have sufficient support overhead to support this weight, hence the frame. The dimensions are 2.4m tall and wide and 3m long.

My idea is to use 4"x4" uprights at each corner and horizontally to create the cuboid and at the centre point of the 3m beams as support for the beam to hang the bag on where I hope to use a 5"x4" thats runs across the width.

My question is with regard to joints and brackets/joist hangers. How do I join the 3 4x4 posts that will meet at each 90°corner and how do I join the 4x4 posts with the 5x4? Im intending to use joist hangers/brackets but unsure of configerations etc

Cheers
Aj
