New boiler

by CJWB » Sun Oct 05, 2008 5:54 pm

I'm going to replace my 33 year old 105,000BTU boiler and have been looking at the Heat Loss programs on the web as the house is now well insulated.
The programs indicate a heat loss of about 16KW to which I believe should be added 10% to allow for pipework loss. This gives me about 18KW as the potential boiler size.
That would appear to be right on the limit of that sized boiler and I wonder whether it would be better to go for a 24KW, but having read that oversize boilers lose in the efficiency stakes I am undecided.
I would appreciate if anyone can advise me on this please?

What type of boiler do you have in mind. Is the exsisting open vented with a DHW calorifier or what.
