New light fitting into old wires

by JenniP35 » Sun Feb 03, 2008 3:30 pm

I have a fancy new light fitting (10 arms!!!) for my living room. I've not looked yet but I'm guessing the existing wires that are up there willbe different colours from the ones on the new light.

Can anyone advise me on howto wire it up. I obviously have the instructions for the new light

Look in the projects before you take it down,

There is likely to be a lot more wires there than you expect.

There are hundreds of posts where people have took one light down and caused major problems for themselves

The only colours you should find
Red=brown
Black=blue
Green=green/yellow (if not present could be a problem)

Unfortunately the same colours DO NOT all join together AND the BLACK MAY be used to function AS A RED

So be prepared or get someone else in
