New Meter Installation After Old Meter Removed

by Rdg16 » Tue Jan 09, 2018 6:50 am

Hi, I’ve recently bought a small cottage which has had the electricity meter removed. This was arranged by the previous owner and not due to a repossession, they appear to have had it done to avoid any bills while the house was empty. The electrics however are in good condition. Before completing I’d read utility companies are only to keen to install a new meter to get new custom. However this has to be done through the previous supplier. The seller told me this was EDF but after purchasing I’ve found it is a company called Utility Warehouse. They seem completely incompetent as they’ve twice told me a booking was made for a meter fitting but never actually booked someone to do it. Each time is three weeks apart and I’m starting to think they are deliberately not booking it. My question is do I really have to stay with the previous supplier or is there a way round this.
