Noisy Central Heating Pump - What's This Noise?

by samuelhadamson » Sat Nov 08, 2014 5:16 pm

Dear all,

Please could anybody offer any suggestions about what might be causing my central heating pump to rattle like this? Very happy to provide further details if that's helpful.

It sounds like it could be air in the pump, so using the air bleed screw could be a possible solution.

It also could be a vibration from a loose piece of pipework nearby or It could also be the pump bearing on it’s way out.

Is it something that has recently occurred or has it been steadily getting worse? Have any modifications recently been made to the system or has the pump been left idle for any length of time?

Hope this helps, AP123

Thanks,
I'll try bleeding the system and see how it goes.

Thanks again,
Sam
