Non-functioning Fireplace

by Swizzlenap » Thu Aug 07, 2008 2:07 pm

Hi all,

I am going to re-open a fireplace which has been bricked up. The chimneys in the building have been capped and we do not intend to uncap them. The fireplace will be purely decorative. Do I still have to do anything under building regs?

Cheers,
Norman.

Hi as long as you do not intend to remove any structual part of the fireplace ie supporting lintels, you should be okay to open it up.
