    optical level setup

    Postby DBriggs » Mon Mar 05, 2012 1:49 pm

Hi all, has anyone ever used an optical level (or dumpy level as some call them)? I am looking to hire one from my local tool hire shop but I need to know if they are pretty easy to set up before I do. So, do you need any specialist survey equipment training or knowledge to understand how to set these up or can any old fool learn the basics pretty quickly?

Basicaly the new ones I think anyone can use them, we had one on hire last week and you don't even need to level the optical bit up it is self levelling so it is basically turn it on and away you go. There arent like the old site ones where you had to set them up level and keep looking through them for the staff. I think if you can't work one of the new ones it is time to pack in

So was yours more of an electronic level rather than an optical one? You wouldn't happen to know the make or model so I could look it up online, would you?
