Outside TAP

Post by Ricardo » Mon Apr 16, 2007 3:36 pm

Hi all
I wonder if you can help me. My outside tap works fine without a hose attached, but when I attach the hose it leaks everywhere from the Hozelock device at the tap end. I have changed the hozelock thing but it's still leaking. Do you have any suggestions as to what might be causing this?
Many thanks
Ric

You should have fitted a tap which has a 3/4 inch BSP thread on the output spout. Hoselox make the exact screw-on fitting for it, with the other end having an O-ring seal, for the main hose coupling to snap onto, after unwinding the whole hose from inside the drum.

Might be a rough thread on the tap's 3/4 BSP spout. ---- Try packing-out the thread using plumbers PTFE tape, and re-fit the HOZELOX adaptor. (rough threads can be cleaned-up -- engineers have hard metal combs for that job, but a steel-bristled brush may do. Check the thread with your finger-nails.)
