Patio Drainage Problems With Water Sitting Next to House and Causing Damp

Post by OldHouse » Tue May 31, 2016 9:59 am

Hi all,

I'm having some issues with water drainage on my patio, as water is sitting next to house causing damp etc. Any help would be great.

I've taken up the paving slabs to install a French drain against the house, but I've discovered a manhole cover right next to the wall.

Bit stuck now on what to do...

I've tried to attach a photo but I'm having difficulty!!!

Thanks!

the patio should be 150mm below the dpc, if its not, then you need to install a linear drainage system against the wall, As for the manhole cover, if its the rectangle metal type, then you can move it over and lay a concrete lintol on the brickwork to span the gap, or buy a smaller cover.
