Picky light fitting?

by Crysta » Wed Dec 17, 2008 9:40 pm

I have a very strange problem!

I have the standard fitting-at-the-end-of-a-cable type light fitting in my bedroom and have recently tried to switch to those new Daylight energy saving bulbs. All well and good... except in the space of 48 hours, three bulbs have blown! At first I thought it was a bad batch as the first two were bought together, but my dad gave me a third bulb and that blew out even faster!

The funny thing is that no other variety of bulb - energy saving or otherwise - is blowing out!

All three failed bulbs seem to be the starters being fried. Anyone got any ideas why it's ONLY daylight bulbs doing it?

Have you tried the standard bulbs afterwards and does it work okay. if so check the ratings of the bulbs if low wattage may the problem,
