There is a small electrical device which sits in the pilot flame these do go wrong and when they do the cooler it is the worse they get. There are universal models and Wickes sell them with no instructions as they say they should only be fitter by a qualified plummer which really upset me since it is electrical and no lead in it. But cheap as it is you will need a pro to fit it.

Boiler make and model ?

Probably needs replacement thermocouple, you cannot fit these yourself, you will need a CORGI registered installer - not a plumber as advised by ericmark.

Not quite sure what ericmark is talking about or advising, there's no electrical connection to a Thermocouple, it's made up of two metals, when heated produces a small electrical current which then holds open a thermo-electric part of the gas valve.
