Placemen t of drywall anchor diagram?

    Postby stuartgmilton » Sun Nov 07, 2010 8:56 pm

    Hi guys,

I'm looking for a diagram which shows where to place anchors behind a heavy mirror/picture frame. I've found it before, and I'm sure it was on this forum? Its a line drawing showing weight distribution per anchor.

I've tried searching, and google image searching for it but without luck.

    Is anyone able to help???

    Cheers,

    Stuart

how much weight are we talking about here? are you fixing into a joist or noggin or just into the plasterboard? more info reqd.

i'm not aware of any such diagrams, maybe a google search?

best bet is to try and pick up a joist or put in a noggin.

the strength of the fixing is not what you need to be concerned about - the plasterboard will fail long before the fixing. however, if you use more than one fixing then you will obviously be spreading the load.

i'd space the two fixings at one third and two thirds of the width of the frame that you are hanging.

    Hi,

    Sorry for the late reply.

I'm hanging a 9.7kg mirror onto drywall. I may be able to find an upright. but am not at home at the moment.

Will look into it more at the weekend.
