Planning Permission Still Valid?

by heathmount » Fri Jan 25, 2008 4:26 pm

7 years ago planning permission was granted for a 2 storey extension to a house. However only the first storey was ever built. Is the planning permisison for the second storey still valid? I've heard planning permission expires after 5 years but if you've "started building" then the permission lasts indefinately?

Can anyone clear this up?

cheers

One of the planning permission conditions will say "that the works must commence within 5 years" so you should be OK to complete the works but check with the L.A. planning department. They sometimes revoke the permission, but this would normally apply to a larger development.

The same will apply to you B Regs permission (commence within 3 years)if you applied for a 2 storey extension?
