plasterboard on top of brick wall
I'm thinking of sticking plasterboard to an existing brick and plastered wall which has been ruined by an electrician. What fixings would I need to use to fix kitchen wall cabinets to this new surface? I know about the different plasterboard fixings but they don't show plasterboard directly onto brick.
Ah, tricky. It depends on the gap between the plasterboard and the wall. Generally, I just increase the length of screw to accommodate the extra depth of plaster. Don't overtighten so as to avoid crushing the drywall.
When you have fixed all the cupboards just before you make the final adjustments, run a bead of clear silicone down the cupboard edge so as to stick it to the wall. That way, they will stay on the wall even if the screws were removed!
