Plastering two backgrounds at once

Post by scroogemonster » Sun May 25, 2008 9:55 pm

I need to plaster a stud wall beneath my bedroom bay window. There is a timber frame which is boarded with plasterboard. The side of the plasterboarded frame is attached to the brick wall of the house. How do I plaster over both surfaces. Do I undercoat the brick and skim both with multifinish, or do I use one coat for the whole plastering job?

You should use bonding on the brickwork first then skim both.

Alternatively "dot and dab" new plasterboard over the brickwork and the existing plasterboard (to get an even finish) and then skim the lot.

Cheers
