Plastic or copper pipe

by meddyliol » Sat Jul 28, 2012 9:24 am

I need to put an outside tap at the back of my house from an existing water supply which is used in an outhouse for a washing machine. My question is, is it easier to use plastic (pvc?) pipe or copper? If I used plastic pipe how easy is it to connect to the existing 15mm copper pipe? Also, which is cheaper?

Thanks

Brian

For this installation I would recommend plastic such as speedfit. Apart from being the easiest to fit, the major benefit is if the pipe freezes, it won't damage the fittings. If you are not confident with plumbing, consider using one of the outside tap kits with a washing machine type hose which can be fitted without using specialist plumbing tools.
