Polished Porcelain Tiles, Grouting, Sealing And Wax Coating Removal

by steq94 » Thu Oct 24, 2013 4:11 pm

Hi
Have purchased polished porcelain tiles from B&Q, the instructions on the boxes are that once laid and grouted then to remove the wax coating with wax remover and then seal with a porcelain sealer.
The questions I have is:
I have had conflicting advice, remove wax coating first, then seal prior to laying and then reseal after grouting. Do I really need to do this?

Don't remove the wax coating until you have grouted. Waterproof grout sets very hard and sticks so well it's very hard to remove grout stains. If you have left the wax on, it will be much easier to remove the grout stains. Once you have done this you can then apply the sealer by following the instructions that come with it.
