Problem fitting a ceiling light.

Postby neogeo » Mon Mar 26, 2007 2:33 pm

Trident Daisy 3 light.
Flush 3 way ceiling light.

My grandfather is having problems wiring the light.
Coming out from the ceiling we have 4 red wires (1 live, 3 loop), 2 black and 2 earth.

Coming from the light we have 1 earth, 1 brown and 1 blue.

When he fit the light it comes on but wont switch off.
We have tried all combinations of wiring the light and none work .
There is only one on/off switch.

Just about everywhere on this forum is the message to look in the projects section first. Try going there and looking at changing a light fitting

look closer at the 4 Red wires, one of them will be a black with red sleeve or tape.........it does not belong with the other reds as it is the switch wire which goes to the Brown of the light.
the blue of the light goes to the two black neutrals, & the remaining three reds don't connect to the light at all they are just looped in a spare connector block, Sparx
