PROBLEM WITH BATH HOT WATER TAP

Postby FOX HOUND » Tue Jan 24, 2012 1:09 pm

    Hello.

When running the upstairs bath hot water tap the pressure starts off well then reduces almost to a stop then comes on reasonably fast again. All other taps are fine.

The tap doesn't turn as far as the others. I've been told that its probably the washer. Do you agree?

If it is the washer what size will I need? The taps have plastic tops but have been there for a considerable time.

I have no plumbing experience whatsoever.

    Thanks.

These are not common symptoms but it might become clear if you dismantle the tap.

The most usual size washer for a bath tap is 3/4" but as there are so many different taps on the market today, don't be surprised if it is different.

    Many thanks for reply.

My Mrs is in the bath as I write this as she has said that the flow was much better.

Why? No idea. I can only summise a bit of air, perhaps?

I will still check the washer though once I've got a selection.
