PROBLEM WITH DOOR SIZE

by ewan » Thu Jul 03, 2008 2:38 pm

I have a built in fitted wardrobe, as part of the house and it has all the wood facings around it.

I had 2 sliding doors on this which fell apart and I really now want to replace them with either louvre doors or internal doors. I would need two.

Basically, the space looks just like an internal door frame ( without the door ).

the problem is the size. The height is 197.5 cm ( 70.67 " ) and the width is 50cm ( 19.69 " ).

The problem seems to be that no door i find can seem to be cut to a width of 50cm , as I have been told it would start to dislodge the joints in teh wood etc.

Any advice most appreciated.

could you make a door? using 2"x1" for the frame and hardboard cladding it would cheap and relatively quick. worth a try even for the inexperienced. not disastrous if it fails and you just resume your search! good luck
