Problem with mid-position valve / cylinder?

by guyyorkshire » Thu Jan 22, 2009 12:45 pm

Not sure if it's related, but had a new mid-position valve fitted by British Gas and within a month a loud vibrating noise can now be heard from the mid position valve and cylinder area. This only occurs when the hot water supply is being heated up (1 hour am and 1 hour pm).

Any ideas?

Sound like the 3 Port is incorrectly fitted. Vibration may be caused by valve trying to drive against water flowing through it in the wrong direction. I would get BG back and have it checked.

Thanks DEARR2 - will mention this to BG.

Any reason why the noise stops when hot water is running. Also, doesn't appear to make noise when central heating is timed to come on at the same time.

Cheers.

The noise appears to be coming from the valve when it is one particular position which may indicate the valve it's selve may be faulty. Again Guy I would refer this back to BG as you would expect some sort af warranty with this replacement. Good Luck with BG.
