pull cord ceiling switch

I wish to replace the pull cord ceiling lighting switch in the garage with a wall mounted switch will need to extend the cable by 1 metre, would be gratefull for simple instructions

If only one cable to the pullswitch ,the cable would only come from the light fitting or a j/b within the garage, you would be better considering replacing the length of cable rather than joining it.
