    Raised Borders - What are the options

    Postby BMF » Mon Dec 29, 2008 5:58 pm

    I am looking to landscape my garden, and have been looking at the following options;

    1) Rendered Blockwork - Lots of work, think it is the cheapest, and most flexible

    2) New sleepers - £30 for 2.6m so not cheap, easy to lay, but relatively inflexible

    3) Gabio cages - Similar cost to sleppers to buy but then have to fill with stone. Not very flexible.

    All i want to do is put in structure in a 25x8m garden about 50cm high.

    What is the best way of doing this? Any idea how much block work would cost?

    Cheers
    BMF

    BMF,
    Rendered blockwork may not be the cheapest, at 50cm high you will probably need the wall to be 20cm thick with suitable foundations. Rendering on blocks on raised beds does not last well due to frost action.
