"RAISING RAFTERS IN A LOFT"

How do I raise rafters in a loft that has already been insulated?
Thanks, Andy. I mean the joists to which are fastened the plasterboard of the ceilings below. The insulation has been laid across these joists. I want to put boards down so that it is safe to walk on. Mike.
