Re-fixing a door handle

Post by DevonSpeed » Wed Feb 11, 2009 10:47 pm

Can someone advise me on how to refix a door handle? Its a brass handle which has been pulled off so i cant rescrew it on as holes are now to big for screws. The door is a cheap hollow one so how do i get my handle back on!

Please help as parents are visiting at weekend and need it back on!

I don't think there is a way to do it, you may need to change the door

You could cut a hole in the door the same shape but smaller than the handle. Work a piece of ply larger than the hole inside the door, pull it up against the inside of the door and rescrew your handle through into the ply.

Cheers
