Re paint or use the stick on tiles

Hi, a couple of years ago we painted over our existing bathroom tiles. They looked good and really brightened the bathroom up. The tiles on the wall over the bath and shower have peeled badly, we did use a tyle pimer. I can't afford to retyle the room at the moment so was wondering whether to re paint, or to use the stick on tiles that you can stick over the existing tiles. Obviously i need to clean off all the old paint first whatever i do. Any help or suggestions would be good.
