Reinforce Suspended Wood Floor to Prevent Washing Machine Vibration

Post by bifflebros » Thu Nov 03, 2016 7:50 pm

Am planning to reinforce suspended wood floor by adding x6 1 metre long upright 100mm x 50mm 'recycled plastic wood' supports postcreted into the soil below and screwed into existing joists above. Idea is to stabilise and isolate floor with washing machine on it to stop vibration affecting whole kitchen with movement and noise. Any comments / ideas / recommendations? Thanks

You may have a problem with your washing machine itself... it should not vibrate THAT much... Check if you appliance is well leveled it needs to be fully flat. As far as it goes to supporting your washing machine and lifting it from the floor you don't need to build up a "case" for it. You can just get rubber fitting for its legs, that might get the job done :)
