removing a border having used border paste to fix on plaster

    Postby Rob Wentworth-James » Thu Apr 16, 2009 5:54 pm

Hi, I have used a Laura Ashley border, with Laura Ashley border paste (very strong adhesion) directly on top of plaster. When I have tried to remove the border with a steamer, it has started to lift the top skim of the plaster off. I am looking for suggestions as to how I can remove the border without needing to call in a plasterer to re-plaster my entire hall.

    many thanks

You are leaving the steam stripper head on the wall far too long in an effort to separate the border from the wallpaper. What is happeneing is that the steam is getting in between the base coats and the top coat of the plaster and blowing it off.

You'll have to face it that you will not be able to get the border off the wallpaper. Strip the lot being careful where the border is and repaper.

    Cheers
