    removing artex

    Postby jane69 » Thu Aug 23, 2007 1:32 pm

I have attempted to remove some artex in our kitchen using steamer, it is so messy and it took ages to do just a small area. We are having a plasterer in to do our living room as that is also covered in artex but as the kitchen is smaller I wanted to try and see if I could do it myself. Any tips?
    Regards Jane

Jane, it was the method I used to do my landing ceiling - a couple of bits of timber to wedge the steamer plate to the ceiling, leave it for 5 minutes, move it along and strip the area it had heated. It was slow, dirty work. Followed by a fair bit of prepartion so it could be painted.

Might be worth considering getting the plasterer to board and skim that too. It depends on the state of the ceiling underneath the artex.
