Repairing Plasterboard Around Inspection Hatch for Flue

Post by inkypinky » Thu Jan 26, 2017 3:24 pm

Hi All,

We had flue inspection hatch installed in living room ceiling couple of years back (2013), the same became faulty and needed replacing, while taking out the old hatch enclosure the plasterboard paper has also come off. What is the best way to seal the plaster and then fix new hatch?

the new hatch is just placed over the gap awaiting to be glued once i am able to fix the plasterboard

to patch it you will need an angle bead to create an edge for the plaster, and patch the plaster to it,or you could use architrave to surround the area, and hide the plaster, you could use either timber or plastic
